“In 21st century-mode, the singer showcased her wonderful singing through diverse mashes of “Crazy World” from the film Victor/Victoria and “If I Ruled The World” from the musical Pickwick, with guest vocalist Damon Kirsche “Look at That Face” from Grease Paint and “Something In Your Smile” from Dr. Dolittle that were marvelously sung and on the record. To say the least, she was very happy and closed the concert with her title track and “Two for the Road” that were both very romantic and positive.”
“Her hour-plus set included moments of exquisite intimacy, grand showmanship reflecting Dianne’s lengthy regional musical theatre resume and towering emotional expressions.”
“It was wonderful to hear her bring these tunes alive on stage, infusing so much of her personality and natural charisma into the presentation. The purity of her vocals allowed every lyric to pour forth and linger in the heart as all great poetry does.
“Projecting open-hearted sincerity with a warm voice, California-based singer and actress Dianne Fraser, making her debut recording, has chosen to present material that Leslie Bricusse wrote. It's a nice match and a rewarding listen. Dianne Fraser presents a cozy, sensitive style, and her phrasing sounds invested and thoughtful.”
“From the whimsy of “Pure Imagination” to the excitement of “Le Jazz Hot” to the emotions of “Feeling Good” and “Two for the Road,” this is an album to listen to over and over to enjoy Fraser’s performance and to pick up the nuances of Bricusse’s brilliant songs.”
“A blend of deeply theatrical, compelling emotional moments, hushed intimacy, sultriness and sass… Fraser may make it to Broadway yet – but in the meantime, if you’re unfamiliar with her, please begin with a spin, traveling in the world of her (and Bricusse’s) creation!”
Dianne Fraser took a turn with a sincere, well-sung “Bill.”
Fraser sang with warmth and control; her enthusiasm for the material and her winning stage personality are among all the positives.
